Q&A

Why should I choose Ecumen at Home?
You have to feel comfortable with whom you are working.  Ecumen brings nearly 150 years of high-quality service to people across Minnesota and a mission on which we’re laser-focused:  We create home for older adults wherever they choose to live.  Our promise is to:  Innovate.  Empower.  Honor.  We take incredible pride in the work we do in empowering and honoring the people we serve.  Our work is built on trust, and we hope to earn yours.

How do I get started with Ecumen at Home?
A phone call or submission on our contact us page is the first step.  We’ll ask some initial questions and then set up a complimentary meeting where we’ll both learn more about each other.

I've never purchased at-home services, what should I even be asking?
This Ecumen resource guide provides a number of questions to ask when you are comparing at-home services.

Who will be working with me?
You will be working with an Ecumen employee, not an independent contractor.  We have provided services for nearly 150 years, serving thousands of seniors and their families.  Our employees live our mission to create home for older adults wherever they choose to live.  Ecumen has been named 6 years in a row as one of Minnesota’s Best Places to Work and was named one of the Best Places to Work by Minnesota Monthly.

Will I meet with the same Ecumen employee every time?
The same person will coordinate your services, although you may have a different employee based on the services you’re receiving.  For example, if you move from non-medical services to also receiving medical services.

How do you screen your employees?
We perform a background check through the State of Minnesota in addition to securing an independent third-party background check, drug test, driver record review and work authorization verification.  In addition we conduct an extensive interview of the candidate and their personal and professional references.

Are your employees bonded and insured?
Yes, each employee is fully bonded and insured.

Can I get references of your services?
Absolutely.  We’d be happy to provide you with references.

When are your services available?
Our services are available anytime; we coordinate the schedule with you.

Do I need to purchase a minimum amount of hours?
Our minimum service amount is three hours, which can include a mix of services.

What is the billing process?
Ecumen will provide you a bill for service in which you pay Ecumen, rather than your Ecumen at Home professional.

Does insurance pay for these services?
Ecumen at Home accepts private pay and long-term care insurance.  Medicare and Medicaid do not pay for these services.

Wouldn't it just be easier for me to put the various services I need together?
You can go that route, but many people enjoy the fact that we're a one-stop call and we coordinate all services with screened, insured employees who are experts at working with seniors. It's been our passion for nearly 150 years. No one else in the country has our mission:  We create home for older adults wherever they choose to live.

What is your service area?
We serve the entire Twin Cities metro area.
